BJP MP Manoj Tiwari expresses concern over killing of youth in Seelampur, to visit area

New Delhi: BJP MP Manoj Tiwari on Friday expressed concern over the murder of a Dalit youth in Delhi’s Seelampur.  He said that the incident was bound to agitate and anger the locals in the area. This is a very normal reaction of the people, added the BJP leader.

Tiwari said that he had been in touch with senior district and police officials since late last night.  He informed people that the police had identified most of the accused and efforts are on to identify others and arrest them soon.  The BJP leader said that no matter where they are hiding, all the accused will soon be arrested and they will receive the harshest possible punishment.

In his post on ‘X’ Tiwari then went on to appeal to the locals to maintain calm, even though he said that he understood their anger. He asked the people to not hamper the police and their investigations. He said that he will come to the area till 2:30 pm (Friday) and meet people and family members of the deceased.

Seelampur murder shocks locals

The murder of Kunal in Seelampur has sent shockwaves across the entire area. The community alleged that they have been forced out of their houses due to continued incidents of violence and harassment against them, carried out by a particular community. They said that many people were forced to sell their houses and shift to other localities.

People of the area have pasted ‘for sale’ posters outside their homes and also requested UP CM Yogi Adityanath and Delhi CM Rekha Gupta to help them.  They carried out protests and raised slogans against the administration and government.
