Uttarakhand’s elected 100 ULB to start working from next week; state election commission issues notification

Dehradun: The new governments of 100 urban local bodies will start functioning from next week. After the Urban Local Bodies’ polls, the state election commission has issued notification for the formation of the new governments of 100 local bodies. In this regard, the information has been sent to the state government also.

Now, the preparations are on for the organizing oath taking ceremony of the mayors of municipal corporations, chairman of the municipalities and Nagar Panchayats, besides ward councillors, ward members, and other elected representatives of the local bodies. With the first meeting after the oath taking ceremony, the tenure of the new governments of the local bodies will begin for the five years.

ULB polls were held on January 23

The Urban Local Bodies’ polls were held for the various posts of 11 municipal corporations, 43 municipalities, and 46 Nagar Panchayats on January 23. The counting of votes took place on January 25. After the ULB polls results, the BJP has won 10 mayoral posts of the 11 municipal corporations.

Posts of civic bodies’ chiefs- BJP (42), Congress (27) & Independents (29)

The BJP has captured 42 posts of civic bodies’ chiefs across the state while the Congress won 27 such posts. Independent candidates have emerged winners for 29 posts of civic bodies’ chief. BSP has also got two posts of civic bodies’ chiefs. Out of the total 1280 posts of ward councillors, ‘Sabhasads’ and members, BJP, Congress, and independent candidates have won 455, 169 and 651, respectively.

Training programme for the new elected representatives

The state’s urban development department will organize a training programme for the newly elected representatives of  the 100 local bodies. The newly elected representatives will be made aware about their responsibilities and works.

CM Dhami may attend the oath taking ceremony of the new government of Dehradun city

Meanwhile, Dehradun municipal corporation has started its preparation for the oath taking ceremony of the newly elected mayor and ward councillors. BJP has secured majority in the Dehradun municipal corporation. The oath taking ceremony is likely to be attended by the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, cabinet ministers, MPs, MLAs and BJP’s prominent leaders.
