Samba: Border Security Force (BSF) successfully stopped a major infiltration attempt along the international border in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir on the intervening night of May 8 and 9. According to BSF officials, seven terrorists were killed during the operation and significant damage was done to a Pakistani border post named Dhandhar.
The group of heavily armed terrorists tried to enter Indian territory under the cover of darkness. The BSF, which was already on high alert, spotted the movement and immediately responded. A heavy exchange of fire took place, during which all seven terrorists were neutralised. No casualties were reported on the Indian side.
According to initial information, the terrorists were members of the terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), which has been active in planning cross-border attacks in the region. The operation also targeted and damaged Pakistan’s Dhandhar Post, from where the infiltration attempt was believed to have been supported.
This infiltration attempt came two days after India launched Operation Sindoor, a military action against terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
