Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Suhail Qasim Mir reportedly told Times of India that the arrested men have been identified as Jatin Kumar alias Rohan, Barinder Singh alias Sajan, Rahul Masih, Abraham alias Rohit, Sohit, and Sunil Kumar.
The SSP pointed out that these individuals were part of various sub-modules within the terror network, including roles such as grenade operatives, logistics support, financial handlers, and those providing shelter.
Preliminary investigations have dislosed that the module is associated with the terror outfit BKI, which is banned. The group is believed to be operating under the command of foreign-based handlers Maninder Billa and Mannu Agwan, acting on the directions of Harwinder Singh Rinda, Suhail reportedly said.
The SSP added that two days back, they tried to carry out a grenade attack outside a liquor vend in Batala. After the attack, terror operative Mannu Agwan claimed responsibility for it.
He pointed out that the accused were getting direct instructions from Portugal-based Maninder Billa and Babbar Khalsa mastermind Mannu Agwan, who recently took over operational leadership after the arrest of Happy Passian in the US.
While police carried out operation to nab the suspects, Jatin Kumar reportedly fired at the team. He received gunshot wounds as police retaliated. He has been admitted at Civil Hospital, Batala. A .30 bore pistol was found from his possession.
