New Delhi: Taking a huge swipe at Pakistan, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Thursday said the neighbouring country would be nothing without China’s backing.
In an exclusive interview with CNN-News 18, the MP said, “It has become clear, without China, Pakistan is nothing. They are handicapped without China’s support.”
He pointed out that during its global outreach mission, the multi-party delegation on Operation Sindoor — of which he was a part — had exposed how Pakistan, with China’s backing, had prevented The Resistance Front (TRF) from being named in the UN Security Council resolution which condemned the Pahalgam terror attack.
TRF — the terror outfit — had carried out the April 22 Pahalgam attack, in which 26 people were killed. After the attack, India launched Operation Sindoor and struck terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
TRF — a front for the terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba — was excluded of the resolution even though Indian officials had apprised the UN Security Council’s 1267 Sanctions Committee about its actions just last month.
‘Pak using international funds for army’
Earlier on Thursday, Owaisi pointed out that the funds being allocated to Pakistan by other countries and international agencies were not being used for development but being used for the country’s army.
He underlined that during their visit to Saudi Arabia, the delegation was told that the country had given Pakistan $2 billion in 2022 and had lately renewed a $30 million loan. Owaisi also pointed out that Pakistan had got a $2 billion bailout from the International Monetary Fund.
Owaisi was quoted as saying by ANI: “We had requested and explained to them the monitoring of all these funds. This money is going to the Pakistani Army. This money is not being used to develop the people of Pakistan….”
