1. Gyan Mudra
To do this, lightly join your index finger and thumb. Keep the other three fingers straight. Close your eyes and breathe normally. Doing this mudra improves concentration and also eliminates negative thoughts. It is also beneficial in sharpening the mind. If children do this regularly, they become intelligent. Anger can also be controlled by doing this. If you want better results, you can do Prana Mudra after doing Gyan Mudra.
2. Vayu Mudra
To do this, bend your index finger and place it at the base of the thumb. Press the index finger lightly with the thumb. The rest of the fingers should be straight. Make this mudra with both hands and place them on the knees. This mudra gives relief in vata related problems like gas, arthritis, joint pain. If you have pain in your neck and spine, then you can do this mudra. This mudra also helps in increasing blood circulation. However, it has to be done regularly. Also, this mudra should be stopped when the vata decreases.
3. Prana Mudra
To do Prana Mudra, join the thumb with the ring finger and the little finger. Keep the index and middle fingers straight. Also, make this mudra with both hands and keep them on the knees. These mudras make the body active, healthy and energetic. Practicing them helps in removing eye problems and improving eyesight. It also increases the body’s immunity, which gives strength to fight diseases. Let us tell you that, these mudras remove the deficiency of vitamins in the body and eliminate fatigue. It controls hunger and thirst, so you can do it during long fasting. Doing this also helps in falling asleep quickly.
4. Surya Mudra
Surya Mudra is also very beneficial. To do this, bend the ring finger and press it lightly with the thumb and keep the rest of the fingers straight. After this, make this mudra with both hands and keep them on the knees. Now talking about its benefits, doing this helps in weight loss. Also, doing this also reduces body heat which improves digestion. Also, it is effective in relieving stress, increasing body strength and removing cholesterol from the body. Doing this mudra also provides relief from liver and diabetes problems.
Caution: This mudra should not be done by weak or frail persons. Also, it should not be practiced for too long in summers as it increases heat in the body. Doing it for too long can cause fatigue, burning sensation or other heat-related problems in the body.
5. Linga Mudra
While doing Linga Mudra, you have to interlock the fingers of both hands. Keep the thumb of the left hand on top and surround it with the fist of the right hand. Make the Mudra near the chest and sit straight. Doing this increases the internal heat of the body. This Mudra is considered beneficial in problems like cold, asthma, cough, sinus, paralysis and low blood pressure. It helps in drying the mucus accumulated in the body, which provides relief in breathing problems.
Caution: While practicing this mudra, the heat in the body increases, so one should consume sufficient amount of water, fruit juices, ghee and milk, so that the body remains balanced. Keep in mind that this mudra should not be practiced continuously for a very long time, otherwise excessive heat can be generated in the body.
