Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for more severe weather conditions in Gujarat. A well-marked low-pressure system from the Bay of Bengal is expected to bring heavy to very heavy rains across the state starting September 1. Specific regions, including Navsari, Valsad, Vadodara, and Chhota Udepur, have been placed on high alert for intense rainfall over the coming days.

The IMD reported that a deep depression over Gujarat has intensified into a cyclonic storm named ‘Asna,’ and is currently positioned near the Kutch coast. A rare phenomenon in the month of August, according to the weather agency. It is moving towards the Oman coast.

Nearly 50 people have been killed so far in the rain-related incidents in Gujarat. Meanwhile, ministry of home affairs has constituted an inter-ministerial team to assess damage caused by rains, floods in Gujarat, news agency PTI reported quoting officials.

The team will visit the flood-affected districts of Gujarat, which was hit by heavy to extremely heavy rainfall between August 25 and 30 caused by a deep depression formed over Rajasthan and Gujarat.
