While heavy showers will lash Pithoragarh and Nainital, other hilly areas will see thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (40-50 kmph).

Heavy rainfall to continue in mountainous regions

The weather patterns in Uttarakhand have fluctuated significantly, following intense showers on Wednesday that cooled temperatures in higher altitudes but worsened the heat in plains due to bright sunshine. As per the IMD forecast, clouds are hovering over mountainous regions, bringing relief from heat but also possible disruptions in travel. Kumaon’s high-altitude areas recorded a temperature drop, whereas plains maintained near-normal temperatures.

Thunderstorm & lightning alert for several districts

The IMD has warned of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and intense rain spells in the following regions: Heavy rainfall in isolated areas of Nainital and Pithoragarh. Thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) expected in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar, and Pithoragarh. Thunderstorms with gusty winds (40-50 kmph) possible in remaining districts of Uttarakhand.

Dehradun & Char Dham yatra route: Light showers likely

Dehradun experienced clear skies in the morning, leading to hot and dry conditions, but partial cloud cover appeared in the evening. The Char Dham Yatra routes saw intermittent cloud cover, with light drizzle reported at some places.

Authorities issue precautions for pilgrims & travelers

Pilgrims on the Char Dham Yatra have been advised to remain cautious of sudden weather shifts. Travelers in hill areas should prepare for temporary disruptions due to rain and strong winds. Residents are urged to avoid unnecessary travel in districts under heavy rain alert.

Weather in coming days

The Meteorological Center forecasts continuing light to moderate rain in several hilly areas, especially in Nainital and Pithoragarh. Dehradun may receive light showers with cloudy skies. The Char Dham Yatra route will likely experience moderate rain and strong winds. With severe thunderstorms predicted in parts of Uttarakhand, authorities are closely monitoring conditions and advising caution.
