New Delhi: Three Khalistani terrorists were gunned down in an encounter with the police in Uttar Pradesh’s Pilibhit district during the early hours of Monday. The trio was accused of carrying out an attack on a police post in Punjab’s Gurdaspur. They allegedly threw grenades on the police post. The accused, Gurvinder Singh (25), Virender Singh alias Ravi (23), and Jaspreet Singh alias Pratap Singh (18), were members of a banned organisation named Khalistan Commando Force.

Following the encounter, the police recovered two AK-47 rifles, two Glock pistols, and several live rounds from their possession.

How did the encounter take place

A team from the Punjab Police sounded an alert to the Pilibhit Police about the presence of the three suspects in an area under the jurisdiction of the Puranpur police station. The Pilibhit cops acted on this information and initiated an operation. The police had also got a tip-off about three persons carrying suspicious materials in Puranpur.
