Light to moderate rain predicted in three districts of Uttarakhand

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Dehradun center has forecasted rain in three hill districts of Uttarakhand today. Although no alert has been issued regarding rain, the weather is expected to remain dry in other districts of the state. Rain in the hilly districts might exacerbate difficulties for the local population.

Fluctuations in Uttarakhand weather

Uttarakhand’s weather is currently experiencing significant fluctuations. While afternoons often bring bright, warm sunshine, mornings and evenings are marked by a cold wave and frost, compelling residents to stay indoors. The constant changes have led people to use bonfires for warmth, highlighting the unpredictable nature of the region’s climate. The meteorological department has also forecasted rain and snowfall in the coming days, further emphasizing the volatile weather conditions in Uttarakhand. On Sunday, the weather remained dry throughout the day, but a mild cold wave set in from Monday morning, intensifying the cold.

The temperature continues to drop steadily

The Meteorological Department has indicated that the weather is likely to deteriorate further in the coming days. They have predicted light rain and snowfall in the mountainous areas of the state. On January 22 and 23, widespread rain is expected in most parts of Uttarakhand, accompanied by heavy snowfall in the high-altitude regions.

Dense fog in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar

Additionally, the plains, including districts like Udham Singh Nagar and Haridwar, may experience fog in the morning and evening. A yellow alert has been issued for these areas due to the anticipated fog. The likelihood of rain and snowfall extends from the mountains to the plains on January 22 and 23, according to the IMD.
