New Delhi: Union Minister Jyotiraditya M Scindia on Wednesday met Bollywood actor and football enthusiast John Abraham in New Delhi. John was accompanied by Mandar Tamhane, CEO of Northeast United FC, a football club that plays in the Indian Super League (ISL).
After the meeting, Minister Scindia shared a picture and message on X, saying it was a pleasure to meet John and Mandar. He praised John’s strong passion for sports and his efforts to support young talent, especially in India’s Northeast region.

Scindia said that the Northeast is becoming a hub for sports in the country and said it was delightful to connect with someone who shares the same goal of nurturing athletes from that region.
He also highlighted John’s dream of seeing Indian football reach global levels and producing players like Messi or Ronaldo from Indian soil. Scindia wished John and Northeast United FC great success in their mission to uplift Indian football.

Responding to Scindia’s tweet, John Abraham thanked the minister for his warm gesture and called him “charming and dynamic.” He also expressed hope that the minister would support their vision for the Northeast and promised that one day, India will produce a football star.
