Kishtwar: A jawan was killed in an operation against the terrorists carried out by a joint team of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir Police, in Kishtwar area, on Thursday. According to reports, the security forces were surrounded by three to four terrorists, said to be affiliated by Jaish-e- Mohammed.
The security forces had received information about the presence of terrorists in the area. On this, the Army, police and CRPF cordoned off the area and started a search operation. Seeing the cordon getting tight, the terrorists opened fired and an encounter started with retaliation. Officials revealed that a group of three to four terrorists is trapped in the cordon of the security forces.
About the encounter
The White Knight Corps said in a post on social media platform X, “An encounter took place with terrorists during a joint operation with the police in Chhatru, Kishtwar this morning. Additional troops have been deployed. Officials said the operation will continue until all threats are eliminated. Surveillance and deployment have been increased in high-risk areas.”
Six terrorists killed in two operations
According to Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, VK Birdi, six terrorists have been killed in two separate operations in Shopian and Tral area of Pulwama in the last 48 hours. On May 14, three terrorists of The Resistance Front (TRF), a terrorist organization associated with Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), were killed in Alshipora area of Shopian district in South Kashmir.
Pak’s reaction
Jammu and Kashmir LG Manoj Sinha said that the lesson taught to Pakistan this time has given it a strong shock. “If it tries to carry out a terrorist attack again, the response will be more stringent. Operation Sindoor is not over, it has only been postponed. Our enemy is promoting terrorism despite taking loans,” said Sinha.
