New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a three-day US visit on Saturday to take part in the annual Quad summit and to to address the ‘Summit of the Future’ at the UN General Assembly in New York. The Prime Minister left for the United States early morning.
During his three-day visit, PM Modi will attend the annual Quad summit, address ‘Summit of the Future’ at the UNGA and engage in bilateral meetings with US President Joe Biden and several other world leaders. He will also address a gathering of the Indian diaspora and hold a roundtable with CEOs of top American firms working in the technology sector.
In his departure statement, the Prime Minister said he was looking forward to joining his Quad partners – Biden, Australia’s Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida for the summit. The Quad Leaders’ Summit is being hosted by the US President in his hometown Wilmington in Delaware.
“My meeting with President Biden will allow us to review and identify new pathways to further deepen India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership for the benefit of our people and the global good,” PM Modi said.
The Prime Minister further said that he was also looking forward to engaging with the Indian diaspora and American business leaders, who are the key stakeholders and “provide vibrancy to the unique partnership between the largest and the oldest democracies of the world”.
PM Modi said that the Summit of the Future is an opportunity for the global community to chart the road ahead for the betterment of humanity. “I will share views of the one sixth of the humanity as their stakes in a peaceful and secure future are among the highest in the world,” he said.
