New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the Pune Metro section of Shivajinagar District Court to Swargate through video conferencing from Delhi on Sunday. The inauguration of the project virtually comes three days after his visit to Pune was cancelled due to torrential rains in the region.
He is also scheduled to lay the foundation stone, inaugurate and dedicate to the nation various projects in Maharashtra worth over Rs 11,200 crore through the video conferencing.
The PM will also lay the foundation stone for 5.46 km long Swargate-Katraj Extension of Pune Metro Phase-1 that is to be developed at the cost of around Rs 2,955 crore.
About the District Court-Swargate underground Metro corridor
The underground Metro corridor from District Court to Swargate will provide hassle-free commute to numerous passengers. This corridor will mark the completion of Pune Metro Rail Project (Phase-1). The underground corridor between District Court to Swargate is being made at a cost of Rs 1,810 crore. This is a significant step in the infrastructure of the city’s urban transport and will give a huge impetus to the metro network.
About the Swargate-Katraj Metro extension
This extension of Pune Metro Phase-1 comes at a cost of around Rs 2,955 crore. This southern extension of almost 5.46 km is entirely underground with three stations: Market Yard, Padmavati and Katraj.
Other projects to be unveiled by PM
PM Modi will also dedicate to the nation Rs 6,400 crore Bidkin Industrial Area, a project which spans 7,855 acres under the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme. The project is situated 20 km south of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar in Maharashtra and assumes importance as it will prove to be a vibrant economic hub in the Marathwada region. The project, developed under Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor, will be carried out in three phases.
Besides this, he will also inaugurate the Solapur Airport which would improve connectivity, and make Solapur more accessible to business travellers, investors and tourists. The current terminal building of Solapur has been refurbished to serve around 4.1 lakh passengers every year. PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone of the memorial at Memorial for Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule’s First Girls’ School at Bhidewada, the place where Mahatma Jyotiba Phule and Savitribai Phule set up India’s first school for girls.
