New Delhi: In the wake of the terror attacks in Kashmir’s Pahalgam town, Indian airlines will operate additional flights from Srinagar to Delhi and Mumbai on Wednesday. Air India and IndiGo have announced to operate two additional flights each (a total of four).

On Tuesday, terrorists opened fire at a famed meadow near Kashmir’s Pahalgam town, resulting in deaths of  26 people, most of them were tourists.

The Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which is the main body of traders and industrialists in the state, gave a call for Jammu bandh on Wednesday.

The facility of additional flights has been made available for those who wish to return back to their hometown from the Valley amid chaos and safety concerns as the Jammu region was put on high alert after the heinous incident took place in South Kashmir.

Air India and IndiGo will operate a total of four additional flights from Srinagar to Delhi and Mumbai on Wednesday.

“In view of the prevailing situation, Air India will operate two additional flights from Srinagar to Delhi and Mumbai on Wednesday, April 23,” Air India posted on X.

According to news agency PTI, a IndiGo official said the airlines will operate two additional flights from Srinagar to Delhi and Mumbai on Wednesday.

Air India has scheduled a flight from Srinagar to Delhi at 11:30 am and from Srinagar to Mumbai at 12:00 pm on Wednesday.

“All our other flights to and from Srinagar will continue to operate as per schedule,” the airlines said.

The Tata group-owned airlines operates five flights from Delhi and Mumbai to Srinagar on regular basis. Additionally, it has facilitated full refunds and complimentary rescheduling on cancellations to passengers who have confirmed bookings till April 30.

Meanwhile, IndiGo offered waivers for cancellation or rescheduling for those passengers travelling to/from Srinagar, a statement from the airlines was issued. A total of 20 flights are operated from Srinagar by IndiGo on a daily basis.

Air India Express said that in view of the prevailing situation in Pahalgam, it is extending full support to its passengers flying to and from Srinagar.

“Guests booked to travel on Air India Express flights from or to Srinagar until 30th April 2025 are being offered the flexibility to reschedule their travel with a complete waiver of date change fees and fare difference,” the airline posted on X.

According to the airline, passengers may also opt to cancel their bookings and receive a full refund to their original mode of payment.

Air India Express connects Srinagar directly to five destinations — Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad, Jammu, and Kolkata — with around 80 weekly flights.
