Pahalgam attack: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to visit Srinagar on Friday, meet injured tourists

Rahul Gandhi’s citizenship issue under consideration: Centre to Delhi HC

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will visit Kashmir on Friday following the deadly terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday. Rahil Gandhi will also visit Annatnag district hospital to meet injured persons.

According to senior Congress leader Ghulam Ahmad Mir, Rahul Gandhi will visit Srinagar and Anantnag tomorrow  during a scheduled.

Mir said Rahul Gandhi land in Srinagar on Friday and will leave for Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag to meet people who were injured in the attack on tourists in Baisaran valley in Pahalgam.

Later, Rahul Gandhi will return to Srinagar and will attend a party function organsied by State leadeship.

The Leader of Opposition’s (LoP) visit came in the wake of a deadly terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam on April 22. The brutal attack killed over 26 people while several others were critically injured in the attack. The attack has led to widespread condemnation and outrage across the country. Politicians leaders cutting across party lines have condemned the attack and sought a strict action against the terrorists.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was on two-day Saudi visit, rushed to Delhi in the wake of attack and instructed   Union Home Minister Amit Shah to visit the place and review security situation.

Home Minister Amit has assured full support to the Jammu and Kashmir government in dealing with the situation and vowed justice for the victims and brought the culprits to book.

On Thursday, India did not open the gate on its side during the beating retreat ceremony at the Attari-Wagah border in Punjab. Usually, following the flag-lowering ceremony, soldiers from both countries shake hands as a courtesy to conclude the parade.

But after Pahalgam attack, the Indian soldiers chose not to open the gates on its side and the soldiers lowered the flag while standing within Indian territory.
