Meanwhile, thousands of women defied curfew orders and held a rally in the state’s Imphal East district demanding the repeal of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) from the state. The rally was organised by local clubs and Meira Paibis. During their protests, the women held placards calling to “stop imposition of the draconian law” and “stop killing of women and children” in the state.
