New Delhi: In a chilling incident, a woman along with her nephew allegedly killed her husband, Dharmendra Pasi. The gruesome murder came to light from Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur.

The incident, reported in Laxmankheda village, reveals a complex web of deceit, extramarital affair, and a failed attempt to mislead investigators.

According to police reports, Reena, the wife of the deceased, conspired with her nephew Satish, with whom she was allegedly having an illicit relationship, to kill Dharmendra. The duo reportedly murdered him and tried to divert suspicion by implicating neighbours in the crime. However, there were reported inconsistencies in their statements. The evidence gathered during the investigation led authorities to uncover the truth.

On May 10, Reena laced her husband’s food with sleeping pills. As her husband fell unconscious, she took advantage of his condition and smashed his head with a heavy door frame. According to reports, only the victim’s 75-year-old hearing impaired mother was present in the house.

After killing him, Reena and Satish tried to frame others by planting false evidence and providing misleading testimonies. They made an attempt to manipulate the situation to escape blame.

As the police started probe, they gathered the victim’s phone call history and ordered a detailed investigation. Blood stains were detected by the police in the house which led them to suspect that the murder was committed in the house. A sniffer dog and forensic team confirmed their suspicion.

Reena and Satish’s call details were accessed by the police that revealed the long duration of their calls, including the sharing of obscene photographs. Reena confessed about her relationship with her nephew and also revealed that her husband had got a whiff of it.

Mahesh Kumar, the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, stated that the victim got into a disagreement with several neighbours two weeks prior to the murder. This led to the arrest of two people for his murder.

“But further probe revealed an affair between the victim’s wife and nephew. The victim had come to know about their relationship and had fought over it with his wife. After that, it emerged that they had conspired to kill him,” said Kumar.

The accused  also attempted to clean the murder weapon and the residence of blood spots, but a forensic analysis revealed the truth.

The cops have taken both into custody. They have been charged with conspiracy, murder, and the destruction of evidence.

The modus operandi bears a striking resemblance to a case in Meerut two months back, where a woman and her lover murdered her husband, dismembered his body, and concealed it in a drum sealed with cement.
