UAE-based migrants of Uttarakhand lead participation in Dehradun Migrant Conference

Dehradun: 19 migrants of the Uttarakhand origin, who have settled down in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), have registered themselves to attend the International Migrant Uttarakhandi Conference to be organized in Dehradun on January 12. The conference will see the participation of migrants of Uttarakhand origin from the 17 countries.

Apart from 19 migrants from UAE, the migrants of Uttarakhand origin from Japan (10), New Zealand (3), Singapore (4), Canada (2), China (2), United Kingdom (2), Indonesia (2), US (2), Vietnam (2), Oman (2), Germany (1), Ireland (1), Malaysia (1), Nigeria (1) and Thailand (1) are set to attend the conference.

Chief secretary reviewed the preparations  

The state’ chief secretary Radha Raturi, who reviewed the preparations for the International Migrant Uttarakhandi Conference late on Thursday evening, directed all the departments concerned to use this opportunity for the state’s development.

Various departments will organize sessions  

At the meeting, different departments, including the Industry, Tourism, Skill Development Department, Agriculture & Horticulture, and other departments, shared information with her about the sessions to be organized during the conference.  At the conference, the industry department will organize sessions on investment possibilities in various sectors (manufacturing, power, and start-up) in Uttarakhand.  The Tourism Department seeks support from migrants in the development of the hospitality and wellness sector. The skill development Department is concerned about skill development, employment opportunities abroad. The higher education and the agriculture department focuses on horticulture, herbal medicine, and aromatic plants.

Proper arrangements of cleanliness drive in the city

Chief secretary Radha Raturi, during her meetings with various departments, sked them to display the best of the state’s folk culture, food, local handicrafts, and products during the International Migrant Uttarakhandi Conference. She has instructed the district administration to ensure proper arrangements for cleanliness of the city, besides the venue and parking arrangements. She also directed the liaison officers to ensure proper welcome of the migrant guests coming from abroad. The administration is expected to manage the protocol, the accommodation, and the traffic movement during the conference.

Contribution so migrants in the state’s development  

The conference is likely to discuss the contributions of migrants in the development of the hill state. At the meeting, it was informed that an enterprise and energy session will be held with the migrants on their contribution in the development of the state.

Discussions on environment-friendly habits by hotels

During the Tourism and Wellness session, discussions will be held on sustainable and environment-friendly habits by hotels, Astro-tourism, connecting the state through Heli services, environmental and wildlife tourism in the state and AYUSH and wellness. The session, which will be organized by the higher education and skill Development department, will focus on the quality education in the state. During the session to be organized by the agriculture, horticulture and rural department, start-up ecosystem in agriculture and horticulture sector, curbing migration through creation of livelihood opportunities and investment opportunities in agriculture and horticulture sector for migrants will be discussed.
