New Delhi: On May 7, India rocked and shocked Pakistan with the daring ‘Operation Sindoor’ that destroyed numerous terror camps in nine locations and eliminated over 100 terrorists across Pakistan and LOC. In a humungous achievement, among the terrorists killed in the operation was Abdul Rauf Azhar, the operational head of Jaish-e-Mohammed and the man who masterminded the IC-814 hijacking, as per reports.
The Indian armed forces executed strikes in Bahawalpur and Muridke of the Punjab Province in Pakistan and destroyed the headquarters of Jaish and Lashkar, the two terror outfits which have perpetrated terrorist attacks in India for decades. As per reports, Abdul Rauf Azhar, a central figure in international jihadist networks, has been eliminated in Operation Sindoor. Notably, he is also the brother of dreaded terrorist Masood Azhar. India’s operation in Bahawalpur killed 10 family members of Masood Azhar as has been confirmed by a statement released by Jaish.
The IC-814 hijacking, which was planned by Abdul Rauf Azhar, resulted in the release of Omar Saeed Sheikh, a key terrorist of the Al-Qaeda who later kidnapped and murdered Daniel Pearl, an American-Jewish journalist with the Wall Street Journal. In 2002, Pearl was brutally executed that shocked the the world and remains a defining example of the threat that state-protected terror networks posses.
