Jaipur: A class 12th girl was killed and nine other students were critically injured after a school bus ferrying them skidded off the road and fell into a culvert on the Jaipur-Bikaner National Highway-52 on Wednesday, police said.
Preliminary information revealed the accident occurred due to brake failure of the bus at around 7.30 am. Around 25-30 children were on the bus.
The injured students have been rushed to a nearby hospital after police and emergency responders arrived at the crash site and cleared the debris.
Police said a girl studying in class 12th lost her life after getting crushed under the bus as overturned in the accident while other students were injured, 9 of them critically, and are undergoing treatment at the hospital.
At approximately 7:30 am today, the school bus lost control and plunged off the culvert near Veer Hanuman Marg on the highway in Jaipur’s Chomu area, police said, adding further investigation is underway.
