Kolkata: The parents of the Kolkata doctor, who was raped and murdered, in the city’s RG Kar Hospital in August, expressed their disappointment after Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of the medical college, and another person were released on bail.

Reacting to the development, the parents expressed their fear whether justice will ever be delivered for their daughter. Sharing their disappointment over the way the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has handled the case they said that it seemed the “system failed” them.

“We are heartbroken. We trusted the CBI to deliver justice, but now we are left wondering if we will ever see justice for our daughter,” he said, according to news agency PTI. “We thought the CBI would speed up the investigation and bring those responsible to justice. But now, with the accused being granted bail, it feels like the system is failing us,” they added.

Earlier in the day, the Sealdah court granted bail to Ghosh and Abhijit Mondal, the former officer-in-charge of Tala police station in the case. While Ghosh has been accused of tampering with the evidence, Mondal has been accused of delay delay in filing of FIR of the incident that took place at at R G Kar Hospital on August 9.

Chargesheet not filed within 90 days

Both of them were earlier taken in custody by the CBI, which is probing the case on the order of the Calcutta High Court. Both the accused were granted bail on Friday chargesheet was not filed within the mandatory 90-day period against the two accused, the lawyer representing the former RG Kar College principal said.
