New Delhi: During the International Yoga Day function at the Indian Army’s Northern Command in Udhampur, J&K, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh issued a stern warning to Pakistan, stating that any future acts of terrorism will result in disastrous consequences.
He further emphasised that Operation Sindoor, India’s military retaliation for the recent Pahalgam terror attack, is “not over yet,” and that India will take appropriate steps against any hostile actions by Pakistan. “Operation Sindoor is not over yet. Through this operation, we have told Pakistan that continuing terrorism against India will not be tolerated and the response will get from bad to worse,” He said.
Accompanied by Army Chief Upendra Trivedi on the occasion, the minister reinforced the message, stating, “Any terror attack on the soil of India will prove disastrous to Pakistan. India is ready to take any kind of action against terrorism.”
Operation Sindoor: Continuation of surgical strikes
Singh described Operation Sindoor as a continuation of the 2016 surgical strikes and the 2019 Balakot airstrikes.” We conveyed to Pakistan that its policy of inflicting a thousand cuts against India will not succeed,” he added.
The Indian Armed Forces carried out strikes on targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) on the nights of May 6 and 7, in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in Kashmir, in which 26 civilians were killed.
India to raise Pahalgham attack at SCO
Amid the strained relations with Pakistan and China, the all-season ally of Pakistan, Singh is expected to attend the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) conclave in China next week, The Economic Times reported. This marks one of the first high-level visits to China since the border clashes between the two countries began along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Eastern Ladakh in March 2020.
According to the ET reports, the Pahalgam attack is expected to be a key topic at the meeting, which is being held under China’s presidency. India has formally urged the SCO to include the Pahalgam terror attack in the Official outcome documents of the summit, citing its regional significance.
