Fresh wolf pack stokes fear among Bahraich residents
The local residents were beginning to take a sigh of relief following the capture of five wolves but the sighting of a fresh pack of wolves has once again stoked fear among them.
The villagers allegedly spotted four wolves were near BJP MLC Padamsen Chaudhary’s farmhouse in Magla village on Wednesday evening. They also claimed that the pack included the sixth and the last remaining man-eater wolf but a senior forest department official refuted the claims.
Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Ajit Pratap Singh was quoted as saying by PTI, “There has been information about wolves being seen in some villages of the Ramgaon area of Mehsi tehsil. However, till the time it is not certain that the man-eater wolf was among them, any efforts made to catch them can create a new problem as they might start attacking humans.” He also said that the forest department officials are keeping a close watch in the area where wolves were spotted on Wednesday.
