AGP spokesperson Partha Pratim Bora resigns before bypolls

Partha Pratim Bora, secretary and spokesperson of AGP has resigned just before the bypolls of Assam. Bora is known to be a close aid of Assam’s Chief Minister, Hemanta Biswa Sarmah as he was in Congress with CM Sarmah but didn’t go to BJP with Sarmah in 2015 but joined AGP in 2022.

Bora was President of Assam State NSUI and served as Secretary and Spokesperson for 8 years in Assam Pradesh Congress Committee. Later he was also the membership in-charge and Senior Spokesperson of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee but his resignation from AGP has shaken the CM’s Camp and AGP BJP party is in shock.

Speculations are that Bora is likely to join Congress and he is in touch with AICC in-charge General Secretary, Jitendra Singh and Deputy Leader of the opposition, Gaurav Gogoi. There is a strong rumour that there has been a rift with the CM’s camp, so Bora has left AGP just before the by-elections.

After the Lok Sabha election, there is a rise and increase of Gaurav Gogoi’s popularity in Assam politics and he has been looked as an alternative to CM Himanta Biswa Sarmah. Partha Pratim Bora being the 3rd Generation Congressman could not stand for a long time in AGP, also the rift with CM has escalated his decision to leave AGP. As per the sources there will be a big joining from AGP and BJP along with Bora in Congress after Diwali.
