New Delhi: In an attempt to counter Pakistan-sponsored terrorism and to convey India’s message of zero tolerance against terrorism , the Narendra Modi government sent seven all-party delegations to key partner countries. Centre’s multi-party diplomatic mission came after the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives and the subsequent retaliatory action against Pakistan-based terrorists — Operation Sindoor.

As part of the outreach mission, several senior MPs were sent abroad as government representatives, to explain India’s stance on terrorism. According to the ministry of parliamentary affairs, the goal of this mission was to project India’s national consensus and resolute approach to combating terrorism in all forms and manifestations.

“The all-party delegations will project India’s national consensus and resolute approach to combating terrorism in all forms and manifestations. They would carry forth to the world the country’s strong message of zero tolerance against terrorism,” the ministry.

Keeping aside their internal indifferences, seven groups of MPs from the ruling and opposition parties were sent to many countries across the world to take India’s message against terrorism. During the mission, the MPs faced several challenges, but they focused on only one aim – to expose and unmask Pakistan.

How MPs responded to questions on Rafale

When an all-party delegation visited France, they were confronted with an uncomfortable question that the leader of the opposition, Rahul Gandhi, has been raising. The MPs were asked if any Rafale fell during Operation Sindoor. Keeping aside internal politics, the MPs gave the same response as the DGMO in India had given in response to this question.

In Italy and Germany, the MPs could not meet their counterparts as they got late. Some MPs got busy exploring foreign markets and parks. While in Italy, Deputy Prime Minister, who is also the country’s foreign minister, sent one of his officers for the meeting, in Germany, the MPs could not hold the meeting on time.

Strained ties between India and Pakistan

The already strained ties between India and Pakistan worsened after the Pahalgam terror attack, with India carrying out precision strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in the early hours of May 7. Following India’s strikes, Pakistan attempted to attack Indian military bases on May 8, 9, and 10. India retaliated strongly. The conflict between the two countries ended following talks between the directors general of military operations of both sides on May 10.
