The sudden decision of the bride caused huge chaos and confusion at the wedding venue. Prior to the incident at the wedding function, a meeting between both parties had taken place at the police station.

The bride, who is aged 28 and is the eldest daughter in her family, was set to marry a 30-year-old man from a village in the Akhandnagar police station area. The woman’s father, who works as a labourer in Delhi, has three daughters and a son.

She suddenly stood up after Jaimala ceremony

The ceremony of Jaimala got over on the stage. But, soon after, the bride suddenly stood up and made the bold decision not to marry the groom, while claiming that he was mentally not fit.

Both families and their elders tried hard to convince the bride, who refused to give in. They continued to persuade the woman till the morning, but the bride did not yield. When the police came, they also made a lot of attempt to mediate in the conflict between the parties, but nothing worked. On Tuesday, the fathers of the woman and the man reached Dostpur police station. Both parties made reconciliation after long discussions.

According to Dostpur police station in-charge Pandit Tripathi, when the groom’s family returns the expenses made in the Tilak ceremony to the bride’s family, the jewellery given to the bride by the groom’s family will also be given back. The police said that both the parties have given their nod to this settlement.

The family of the bride declined to speak to the media. The father of the groom stated that everything was proceeding normally until the Jaimala ceremony. Later, the bride went inside and caused a commotion over a pair of slippers and bangles, stating, “I will not marry. I forgot to take them.” The bride’s family has said, “Return our Tilak expenditures and take back your jewellery.”
