6 killed, 18 injured in bus-truck collision in Maharashtra’s Jalna

Jalna: At least six people were killed and 18 others were injured after a collision between a state transport bus and a truck in Jalna district of Maharashtra on Friday. The incident took place near Shahagad village of the district. The injured have been admitted to hospital for medical treatment. Of the injured, six are in a critical condition.

The incident took place this afternoon when the bus was heading towards Jalna. The accident led to huge traffic congestion on the highway.  Following the accident, the injured were rushed to a nearby hospital, said officials.

According to the local people, the truck hit the bus coming from the front while trying to overtake another vehicle. The bus and truck collided head-on. The truck was loaded with sweet lime.  Police reached the site after getting information of the incident and launched an investigation. The identity of the victims is yet to be ascertain.
