New Delhi: The CPF jawan Moti Ram Jat, who has been arrested by NIA on charges of sharing important details with Pakistan, was posted in Pahalgam and was transferred just six days before the terror attack in which 26 people lost their lives while several others were injured.

In its probe, the NIA found that the jawan had been sharing sensitive information with Pakistan since 2023. Jat reportedly used to share sensitive information in return for money. The revelation came as part of the probe agency’s broader probe into the Pahalgam incident.

Jat earlier landed in trouble after the probe agencies flagged his activities on social media and his action was found “in violation of established norms and protocols,” according to the statement issued by CRPF. He also reportedly received funds from Pakistan through various conduits.

He was earlier this month dismissed from services under the relevant sections of the Constitution of India and CRPF Rules. He has also been sent to NIA custody until June 6 for further probe. So far the probe agencies have arrested 13 individuals from Haryana, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh, all suspected to be part of a Pakistan-linked espionage network. Through these operations, authorities are looking to dismantle the network and prevent further breaches of India’s national security.

Among those who have been taken in custody include two women, Jyoti Malhotra and Guzala, who reportedly remained in contact with a Pakistani officer. Malhotra is a noted YouTuber, having a significant following on YouTube and Instagram. The officer, Ehsan-ur-Rahim, was expelled from India for espionage activities recently.
