New Delhi: The weather across India has changed, with some areas witnessing intense heat and others expecting rain and thunderstorms. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), several states may experience heavy rain, storms, or heatwave conditions on May 18 and in the coming days.

Delhi and surrounding areas may receive rain on Sunday. The IMD has predicted a thunderstorm with light to moderate rainfall. The maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to reach 42°C, while the minimum could be around 24°C. Rain is also likely from May 20 to May 23, and the skies may remain partly cloudy on Monday.

Uttar Pradesh may experience different weather conditions in different regions. Rain and thunderstorms are likely in parts of eastern UP with winds blowing at 40–50 km/h. However, the weather may remain clear in western UP. A heatwave warning has also been issued in some areas of both eastern and western UP.

A thunderstorm alert has been issued in Bihar. Heavy rainfall is expected in districts like Supaul, Darbhanga, Kishanganj, Katihar, and Purnia. A yellow alert is active for southeastern districts. Jharkhand may see light rain and stormy winds. Ranchi’s maximum temperature is expected around 38°C, and Jamshedpur around 39°C.

Rajasthan faces extreme heat

Rajasthan continues to experience severe heat. Cities like Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Bikaner may see temperatures rise between 42–46°C. A red alert for heatwave conditions has been issued in western Rajasthan. Light rain is possible in some areas like Udaipur and Kota.

Parts of Madhya Pradesh may see light rain or thunderstorms on Sunday. This may offer some relief from the heat, although conditions will remain hot in many areas.

In Himachal Pradesh, light to moderate rain is expected along with thunderstorms in districts like Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Shimla, and Sirmaur. There is also a possibility of hailstorms. Uttarakhand may experience scattered rain or hail storms in hilly areas, with plains witnessing temperatures between 35–40°C. Jammu and Kashmir may see light rain or drizzle in higher regions.
