Patna, Aug 21: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Gaya Ji tomorrow where he will inaugurate six projects including state’s first six-lane bridge over the Ganges as well as lay foundation stones for eight other development projects.

The projects that will be inaugurated and laid stones tomorrow will be worth Rs 13,000 crore.

During his visit, the Prime Minister will be inaugurating six various projects that included a six-lane Aunta-Simaria bridge, a four-lane Bakhtiyarpur-Mokama section of NH 31, 660 MW Buxar Thermal Power Plan, Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital & Research Centre and, sewerage network and STP projects in Munger & two lane Bikramganj-Dawath-Nawanagar-Dumrao road besides flagging off Amrit Bharat train & train connecting Buddhist circuit.

Prime Minister will also lay foundation stones for eight various projects worth Rs 1257 crore. It included- STP and sewerage network at Daudnagar and Aurangabad, STP at Barahiya (Lakhisarai) and Jamui and sewerage treatment plant and water supply scheme in Aurangabad, Bodhgaya and Jehanabad.

“Tomorrow, 22nd August, I will be in Bihar and West Bengal to attend various programmes aimed at boosting the development trajectories of these states. These works will boost commerce, connectivity and ‘Ease of Living’,” PM Narendra Modi said in a post on X.

Modi further stated that “I look forward to being in Gaya, where works worth over Rs 13,000 crore will be inaugurated or their foundation stones will be laid. The projects include the four-lane Bakhtiyarpur to Mokama section of NH 31, Buxar Thermal Power Plant, Sewerage Treatment Plants and Sewerage Networks.”

PM will also inaugurate Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital & Research Centre which boost health infrastructure for the people of Bihar.

“….Equally crucial are the two trains that would be flagged off, which are the Amrit Bharat Express between Gaya and Delhi, and the Buddhist Circuit Train between Vaishali and Koderma,” Modi said on X.

The train connecting the Buddhist circuit will be run between Vaishali and Koderma via Rajgir, Gaya Ji. It will connect all the places relating to Lord Buddha located in Bihar and Jharkhand.

SIX-LANE AUNTA-SIMARIA BRIDGE OVER GANGES

The six-lane Aunta-Simaria bridge over the Ganges built on expansion cable technique. It is a 8.15-km bridge built at a cost of over Rs 1,870 crore. It will enhance connectivity and reduce travel time.

The bridge which starts from Simaria dham, a famous pilgrimage site in Begusarai district, runs parallel to rail-cum-road bridge Rajendra setu. Simaria dham is the birthplace of Rashtrakavi (national poet) Ramdhari Singh Dinkar.

This is a widest bridge with 34 meters against the normal width of 29.5 meters. It will allow more vehicles to ply on the bridge. The length of the bridge on the Ganges is 1.86 km and will reduce the distance between north and south Bihar by 100 km.

The bridge has been built on Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) mode under which 60 per cent of the cost is borne by the agency constructing the bridge while the remaining 40 per cent is spent by the government.

14 BRIDGES BUILT OVER THE GANGES AFTER 2005
There were four major bridges over the Ganges in Bihar before 2005. The four bridges include- two-lane Veer Kuer Singh setu in Buxar, four-lane Mahatma Gandhi setu bridge, two-lane Rajendra setu in Begusarai and two-lane Vikramsheela setu in Bhagalpur.

But after 2005, 14 bridges have been built over the Ganges in the state. It included- two-lane bridge parallel to Veer Kuer Singh setu in Buxar, two-lane rail-cum-road JP setu in Patna, four-lane Ara-Chhapra, six-lane bridge parallel to Rajendra setu in Begusarai and two-lane rail-cum-road bridge in Munger.
