Chennai: Actress Kasthuri has found herself at the center of a heated controversy following her remarks about Telugu women during a protest in Chennai. The comments sparked outrage, leading the All India Telugu Sammelan to file a complaint against her at the Chennai Egmore police station.

The police have since registered a case against Kasthuri under four sections, including acting with the intention of causing riots between two sections of people and speaking in a way that causes riots between two sections of people by mentioning language, race, and religion.

Kasthuri’s comments were made during a protest organized by the Hindu Makkal Katchi in Chennai, where she questioned why Brahmins who came to Tamil Nadu centuries ago weren’t considered Tamils. Her remarks were perceived as insulting to Telugu people, and she has since issued a statement expressing regret for her words.

This is not Kasthuri’s first brush with controversy. She has been known for speaking her mind on social issues and has previously faced backlash for her comments on various topics, including her criticism of Rajinikanth’s ignorance over the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case.

Kasthuri has also been an advocate for women’s rights, speaking out as part of the Me Too movement in India and sharing her own experiences with patriarchal behavior in the film industry.
