Kasthuri’s comments were made during a protest organized by the Hindu Makkal Katchi in Chennai, where she questioned why Brahmins who came to Tamil Nadu centuries ago weren’t considered Tamils. Her remarks were perceived as insulting to Telugu people, and she has since issued a statement expressing regret for her words.

This is not Kasthuri’s first brush with controversy. She has been known for speaking her mind on social issues and has previously faced backlash for her comments on various topics, including her criticism of Rajinikanth’s ignorance over the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case.

Kasthuri has also been an advocate for women’s rights, speaking out as part of the Me Too movement in India and sharing her own experiences with patriarchal behavior in the film industry.
