New Delhi: At least five people died and several others were injured after falling off a fast local train heading towards CSMT (Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus) near Mumbra railway station in Thane on Monday.

Preliminary reports suggest that around 10 to 12 passengers fell onto the tracks due to overcrowding. The victims were reportedly travelling while hanging from the train doors when the incident occurred.

Railway officials and police rushed to the scene, and the injured were immediately taken to nearby hospitals. An investigation into the cause of the incident has been initiated, and train services were temporarily affected due to the tragedy.
