‘Palestine, Lebanon like destruction’.. Farooq Abdullah on Kashmir violence

New Delhi: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference President Farooq Abdullah has decried a spurt in violence in the Union Territory of J&K. He said the chain of violence in Kashmir must stop or it will lead to Palestine and Lebanon like destruction in the region.

“I am seeing this terrorism since 1984, this (violence) isn’t getting finished and it’s continuous everywhere…the sponsors of this terror think they will merge Kashmir with Pakistan, but Kashmir had decided that in 1947 that we won’t go to Pakistan…They should close this chain of violence, else a time would come when this will lead to complete destruction like Palestine, Lebanon etc….Please shut this cycle of violence,” Farooq Abdullah told TV9 Network.

Abdullah was indirectly hinting at a possible India-Pakistan conflict due to tension over Kashimr.

Pakistan’s desperate for violence after election

Since the elections were conducted peacefully in Kashmir, the valley has witnessed multiple attacks in Kashmir and even at places where the violence was not normal. The fresh cycle of violence in the valley indicates that Pakistan seems desperate to keep the pot boiling in Kashmir and create continued instability.

Army foils infiltration bid in Kashmir, 4 including 2 soldiers killed

On Thursday, the army foiled an infiltration bid in Nagin area of Butapathri near Gulmarg along the Line of Control. The terrorists reportedly attacked an army vehicle in which two soldiers and two civilian porters. The army has launched a massive search operation to locate the terrorists. Three other soldiers and one porter was also injured in the attack. They are being treated at a hospital.
