Ayodhya: Soon, visitors and devotees heading to Ramnagari, Ayodhya, will have a new attraction – a Chowpatty on the banks of the Saryu River, similar to the famous Juhu Chowpatty in Mumbai.
Ayodhya Development Authority (ADA) is working on this ambitious project at Ram Ki Paidi, and construction is already 45% complete. The Uttar Pradesh Housing Department has sanctioned Rs 4.65 crore for the project, which aims to enhance tourism in the holy city.
A new destination for food lovers
The Chowpatty will be a special area where both locals and visitors can enjoy a variety of food. Inspired by Mumbai’s popular Chowpatty, this spot will feature 84 shops and restaurants offering local Ayodhya dishes as well as other popular food items from different regions.
Both permanent and temporary food stalls will be set up to cater to the growing number of visitors in Ayodhya, especially after the Pran Pratishtha ceremony of Lord Ram.
Currently, around 1 lakh people visit Ayodhya every day, and the city is gearing up to accommodate them with better facilities.
Facilities and beautification
Special attention is being given to the beautification and cleanliness of the Chowpatty area. The plan includes placing dustbins at regular intervals to ensure that the area remains clean and litter-free.
Additionally, the development project will include seating platforms by the river, allowing people to relax and enjoy the scenic view of the Saryu River. Modern food carts will also be introduced at various points to offer a wide selection of snacks and meals.
A dedicated parking space is being built to accommodate the influx of tourists, and the entire area will be designed to offer a pleasant and convenient experience for everyone. The ADA has also ensured that the development work will be completed in time for Deepotsav, the grand festival celebrated in Ayodhya.
Enhanced tourism and pilgrim experience
With the establishment of the Ram Temple, Ayodhya has become a significant pilgrimage and tourist destination. The state government is working hard to improve infrastructure and make the city more welcoming for devotees and tourists. The Chowpatty at Ram Ki Paidi is part of this larger effort to boost tourism and provide affordable yet enjoyable facilities for visitors.
ADA Secretary Satyendra Singh said that nearly half of the work is complete and the Chowpatty will be ready before Deepotsav. The addition of this Chowpatty will not only make Ram Ki Paidi a popular gathering spot but also further enhance Ayodhya’s image as a major cultural and spiritual destination.
