He further said that his government had made the life of people easier by reducing the rules. Earlier there were at least 1500 such rules which had become redundant with time, said the PM. Our government did away with all such rules and laws, he added. The PM said that such a step led to two benefits. First, the public was freed from oppression and second the energy of the government machinery was also saved considerably.

PM Modi talks about GST

PM Narendra Modi said that one of the examples of less rules is the GST. Today we have made a single tax, combining more than 30 different taxes, he added. If we look at this as per the document process, this is a huge saving, he said. He also explained that earlier a lot of money was spent by the government for procurement. World is praising DBT, says PM Modi

The PM also brought up the topic of Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) while speaking at the Summit. He said that the world is praising the DBT system created by India. Due to the DBT at least 3 lakh crore rupees of the taxpayers are being saved from being misused, the PM said. Not only that, according to the PM, at least 10 crore fake beneficiaries who were not even born and under whose name many fraudulent people were getting benefits of government schemes, have been removed from the list.

Our government keeps account of all taxes: PM

PM Modi said that his government keeps an account of all taxes and also respects the taxpayers. The government has made the tax system tax friendly, he added. The PM then went on to add that as of today the process of tax filing is much easier and faster as compared to some years back. Earlier it was difficult to file taxes without seeking assistance from a CA, but now one can file ITR in just a few minutes, he concluded.
