Performing the ceremonial bath of Abhyanga Snan is an important ritual that should be performed during Diwali season. It is suggested that you perform the Abhyanga Snan during these three days of Chaturdashi, Amavasya, and Pratipada during Diwali. Here are the steps of how to perform this ceremonial bath of Abhyanga Snan!

  1. To perform this holistic bathing ritual, start by massaging the body with warm oil, often sesame oil, to nourish the skin and deeper tissues. The oil will act as a moisturiser and help in enhancing your skin’s natural glow. This step will give you deep relaxation.
  2. After the Abhyanga oil massage, it is time to apply herbal Ubtan.
  3. Mix equal parts besan (gram flour) and sandalwood powder. Add rose water or milk to the powder mix to form a paste. Your ubtan is ready to be applied!
  4. The ubtan is used as an exfoliator, which will get rid of your dead skin cells. It also clears up any impurities from your skin, making it look more radiant.
  5. Complete the Abhyanga Snan with this final step of Snan or bathing. With this last step of the Abhyanga Snan ritual, you will be able to cleanse both the body and mind.
