West Bengal: Three children dead in fire caused by bursting firecrackers in Howrah

Kolkata: Three children were killed and two others suffered severe burns after a fire broke out due to bursting firecrackers in the Howrah district of West Bengal during Diwali celebrations last night.

The blaze broke out in Uluberia Municipality’s ward number 27 where the children were bursting firecrackers. Some sparks came in contact with fireworks stored nearby, igniting a major blaze that engulfed an entire house, officials said.

Three children lost their lives in a devastating blaze and were pronounced dead at Uluberia Medical College and Hospital, while two others remain in critical condition, currently undergoing treatment. Firefighters dispatched two tenders to the scene, located near a flyover, and managed to bring the fire under control, according to a fire brigade official.
