New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is all set to form the government in Delhi in the next few days has the most number of millionaire candidates, who contested the polls this year. A total of 699 candidates had contested the polls this year.

BJP’s Karnail Singh was the richest candidateCandidates with the lowest declared assets

According to the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR)’s recent report, the BJP has the number of rich candidates with the highest average wealth of at Rs 22.90 crore. The party is followed by the Congress with Rs 14.41 crore, while AAP’s rich candidates were lowest with an average of Rs 11.70 crore.

BJP’s Karnail Singh was the richest candidate

Karnail Singh, the BJP candidate from Shakur Basti, who defeated AAP’s Satyendra Jain was the richest candidate to contest the election this year. He has a total asset of Rs 2,59,67,36,090 (Rs 259 Crore). Another BJP candidate Manjinder Singh Sirsa, who won from Rajouri Garden was the second richest candidate with assets worth Rs 2,48,85,52,444.

Apart from them, another BJP leader Parvesh Singh Verma, who defeated AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal from New Delhi, has assets worth Rs 1,15,63,83,180. Raaj Kumar Anand, another BJP candidate, who lost in Patel Nagar constituency, has assets of Rs 79 crore. Dr. Anil Goyal, the BJP candidate, who won from Krishna Nagar constituency has assets worth Rs 78 crore.

Among the Congress candidates, Gurcharan Singh (Raju), who lost from Krishna Nagar constituency has assets worth Rs 1,30,90,52,000. AAP candidate A Dhanwati Chandela, who unsuccessfully contested from Rajouri Garden, was among the five richest candidates in Delhi with a total asset of Rs 1,09,90,05,522.

Candidates with the lowest declared assets

Notably, three candidates who contested elections in Delhi had the lowest declared assets. Ashok Kumar, an independent candidate who contested from South Ambedkar Nagar, declared a total asset of 6,586, while Anita, an independent candidate from New Delhi, declared the total assets of Rs 9,500.
