‘Welfare of the poor top priority of Modi govt in last 11 years’: Union Minister Pralhad Joshi

New Delhi: Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution said on Thursday that Narendra Modi’s government has always put the welfare of poor people first over the last 11 years. In a tweet, he praised the government’s work and said that several important steps have been taken to support the needy across the country.

The minister said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, many poor families have been able to fulfil their dream of owning a house. He also said that the government has been delivering free ration to people’s homes and covering the cost of medical treatment. According to him, these actions have made life easier for the poor and helped bring development to even the remotest parts of India.

He added that the slogan “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” (Together with all, development for all) is no longer just a phrase—it has become a reality through the government’s work over the past 11 years. He pointed to key schemes such as the PM Awas Yojana, Ayushman Bharat, and the free foodgrain distribution under the Public Distribution System as examples of how the poor have been helped.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also shared a post on X, calling the government “compassionate and devoted to ‘Garib Kalyan’ (welfare of the poor).” He said that the government has taken big steps to lift people out of poverty by focusing on empowerment, better infrastructure, and inclusion.

PM Modi mentioned various welfare schemes that have made a major difference in people’s lives, such as PM Awas Yojana for affordable housing, PM Ujjwala Yojana for clean cooking gas, Jan Dhan Yojana for bank accounts for all and Ayushman Bharat for free healthcare.

He also spoke about the use of digital tools like Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), rural infrastructure development, and efforts to make government services more transparent and faster. All of these, he said, have helped deliver benefits directly to the people who need them the most.

According to the Prime Minister, over 25 crore people have come out of poverty due to the government’s efforts. He said the NDA government will continue to work for a self-reliant and inclusive India where every citizen lives with dignity.

He said that the government’s work in the last 11 years has brought historic results and will continue to make life better for 140 crore Indians.
