A massive landslide struck Devprayag

Amid the ongoing rains, a massive landslide struck Devprayag in Tehri district on Monday, causing significant damage and panic. The landslide occurred on the Narsinghachal mountain, situated along the Alaknanda River, sending large boulders and debris crashing into the Bah market area.

Two residential buildings were damaged, and a father-son duo sustained injuries after being hit by falling stones. They were rushed to a nearby hospital and are reported to be stable. Three vehicles, including two motorcycles and a pickup truck, were buried under the debris. Four electric poles were also knocked down, disrupting power supply in the area.

The Kundal-Koti motor road has been blocked due to the landslide, cutting off access to several villages. Rescue and relief operations are underway, with teams from the Public Works Department and Disaster Management deployed to clear the debris and restore connectivity.

Advisory issued for the people

Local authorities have urged residents and tourists to exercise caution, especially in landslide-prone zones. The State Emergency Operations Centre has already issued high-alert warnings for multiple districts, including Tehri, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, and Uttarkashi, in anticipation of further slope failures. Officials are monitoring vulnerable areas and have instructed district administrations to remain on standby. Emergency shelters, medical aid, and food supplies are being arranged for affected communities.
