Dehradun: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the monsoon may reach Uttarakhand within the next two to three days, bringing widespread rainfall across the state. A heavy rain warning has been issued for Nainital and Bageshwar, while light to moderate rain or thunderstorms are likely at most places in the Kumaon region and many parts of the Garhwal region.
Clouds have been hovering over the state for several days, and intermittent showers have brought much-needed relief from the scorching summer heat. In Dehradun, two to three rounds of rain were recorded from afternoon to evening on Wednesday, keeping temperatures below normal. The city is expected to remain partly cloudy today, with chances of light showers continuing.

According to the IMD, conditions are favorable for the advancement of the southwest monsoon into North India, including Uttarakhand. The department has warned of strong winds (40–50 km/h) and thunderstorms in some areas, especially in the hilly districts.
