Dehradun: On Monday, a tragic accident unfolded at Tiger Falls in Chakrata, where a tree collapsed along with the waterfall, killing two people and injuring four others, including tourists. The incident occurred on Monday afternoon, shocking visitors at the popular tourist destination.
The accident took place around 2:30 PM, when a massive tree suddenly fell from the hill, crashing onto people bathing under the waterfall. Among the deceased were Geetaram Joshi (48), a local resident of Sujou village in Chakrata, and Alka Anand (55) from Shahdara, Delhi. Both were trapped under the fallen tree, while three other tourists suffered minor injuries due to falling branches.
Locals and visitors immediately rushed to help, pulling the trapped individuals from beneath the tree and sending them to CHC Chakrata via ambulance. Unfortunately, doctors declared both victims dead on arrival.

Police confirm tragic loss
According to Chakrata Police Station in-charge Chandrashekhar Nautiyal, the bodies were handed over to the families after post-mortem examinations. He stated that Geetaram Joshi was employed at a company in Selaqui and was visiting the area with his wife and daughter, while Alka Anand had come with her daughter and fiancé for a trip. Apart from the deceased, three tourists nearby sustained minor scratches due to falling branches from the tree.
Six dead in two separate accidents in Uttarakhand
