Uttarakhand police check cleanliness in 1037 food outlets, 135 violations found

Dehradun: Following strict instructions from the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, a comprehensive checking campaign was conducted in the capital on Thursday. The Gaura Shakti Cheetah Unit carried out surprise inspections of 1,037 hotels, dhabas, restaurants, food stalls, and food vans along the roadside.

SSP Dehradun, Ajay Singh, personally led the campaign in the Patel Nagar area. Action was taken under the Police Act against 135 operators for unsanitary conditions in their establishments. Additionally, 127 individuals were brought to the police station for verification, which is currently underway.

Verification of staff was also done

During the inspections, staff verification was conducted alongside checks for adulteration in drinks and food items at hotels, dhabas, restaurants, food stalls, and food vans. Additionally, the kitchen areas were examined to ensure cleanliness, safety arrangements, and quality standards. People were also encouraged to install CCTV cameras in their establishments to enable footage review in case of complaints.

More than 1047 establishments were checked during the campaign

The campaign, led by the Senior Superintendent of Police Dehradun, Ajay Singh, was conducted in the Patel Nagar police station area. Across the district, 1,047 establishments were checked. Action was taken under the Police Act against 135 operators for unsanitary conditions. Additionally, 127 individuals were brought to the police station for verification, which is currently underway.

CM and DGP Uttarakhand issued order and to check the cleanliness and hygiene in food outlets

In line with the directives from the Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and the Director General of Police of Uttarakhand, establishment owners selling beverages and food items at hotels, dhabas, and food stalls across Devbhoomi Uttarakhand are required to investigate and address adulteration in food and drinks. They must also ensure cleanliness, hygiene, and the proper functioning of CCTV cameras in food preparation areas for security purposes.

Following these instructions, the Senior Superintendent of Police in Dehradun has ordered subordinates to conduct thorough inspections of these establishments and public food vendors in their respective areas. This includes verifying employees and checking CCTV cameras. In compliance, police teams and the Gaura Cheetah Unit have carried out a comprehensive verification and checking campaign across all police station areas in the district’s urban and rural regions. During this, awareness was created to install CCTV cameras in the kitchen area of hotels/dhabas/restaurants, and to pay special attention to cleanliness and hygiene.
