Its name has roots in history

Ghorakhal Sainik School was established on March 21, 1966. Its name has an interesting origin. During the 1857 freedom struggle, a British general was wandering in the area to escape from the revolutionaries. While drinking water from a local pond, the general’s horse died. Since then, the locals have called the place Ghorakhal, which translates to “horse pond.”

9-time trophy winner, top performer in NDA

Since its foundation, Sainik School Ghorakhal has made significant contributions to NDA admissions. Principal Group Captain Vijay Singh Dangwal proudly announced that the school has been honored with the Raksha Mantri Trophy nine times, with a tenth trophy soon to be added to its achievements. Recently, the school once again demonstrated its excellence by topping the NDA written examination among 33 Sainik Schools. The principal congratulated the cadets, faculty, and staff for this success and expressed hope that the school will continue to achieve similar successes in the future.

CM Dhami met the students of this school

Whenever Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, who has a military background, gets a chance to meet soldiers or military school students, he makes it memorable. During Lok Sabha elections, CM Dhami met the students of Ghorakhal Sainik School and interacted with them.
