Achieving an extraordinary feat, Trilok Singh Rawat (52) from Motna village in Tehri, along with his sons Rishabh (23) and Paras (18), swam 18 kilometers in Tehri Dam Lake without life jackets, surpassing their previous record by 3 kilometers.



Father and sons create history in Uttarakhand; swam 18km in Tehri Lake without life jackets

Tehri: Trilok Singh Rawat, a Junior Officer at THDC, swam approximately 18 kilometers from Koti Colony to Chham (Kandisaud) in Tehri Dam Lake. From Kotika Colony to Syansu Bridge in the Tehri Dam Lake, Trilok Singh Rawat from Motna village, along with his sons Rishabh and Parasveer, showcased their fitness and adventurous spirit by swimming without life jackets.

Completing the swim in just 8 hours, he was warmly welcomed by locals with flower garlands and drums. Originally from old Tehri, Harish expressed his gratitude to God and his supporters for this achievement.

Father and sons’ achievement

Trilok Singh Rawat was the first to complete the swim among the four participants, finishing in 8 hours. Rishabh followed, completing the journey in 9 hours and 20 minutes, while Paras finished in 9 hours and 29 minutes. Trilok Singh Rawat completed the swim in 9 hours and 45 minutes.

Breaking their own record

Rishabh, who started swimming at the age of 12, and Paras, currently studying BPES at Patanjali University, credited their father for his guidance. Previously, Trilok Singh Rawat and his sons had swum distances of 12 and 15 kilometers. This time, they surpassed their own record by covering 18 kilometers.

Trilok Singh expressed his happiness and urged the youth to stay away from drugs

Under the supervision of the ITBP team in Koti Colony on the banks of Tehri Lake, 49-year-old Trilok Singh Rawat and his sons, 18-year-old Rishabh and 15-year-old Parasveer from Motna village, embarked on their swimming journey. Trilok Singh expressed his happiness and urged the youth to stay away from drugs. He emphasized the importance of dedication and hard work in achieving success in any sport. The ITBP Adventures Tehri and SDRF teams were present to support them during this remarkable event.

They plan to attempt even greater distances in the future

Trilok Singh Rawat shared that Tehri Lake spans 42 square kilometers and reaches a depth of about 260 meters. Despite the challenges, he practiced in the backwaters near his village for many years. He and his sons decided to swim in Tehri Lake to showcase their talent. Trilok Singh mentioned that they plan to attempt even greater distances in the future. They obtained permission from the administration for this swim and were provided security by the ITBP.
