New Delhi: Diwali, the festival of lights, is celebrated with immense grandeur across India, but experiencing it in Udaipur, the City of Lakes, takes it to another level. Udaipur, renowned for its royal heritage, magnificent palaces, and scenic lakes, transforms into a grand celebration of lights, colours, and culture during Diwali. This city, with its rich history and lively traditions, offers a unique Diwali experience, blending Rajasthan’s royal culture with the joy of this festive season. Celebrating Diwali here is a spectacular sight, from the lively markets to the glowing palaces, making it an unforgettable experience.

During Diwali, Udaipur is bathed in the glow of thousands of lamps, fairy lights, and fireworks. Heritage monuments like the City Palace, Jag Mandir, and the tranquil lakes shimmer with lights, creating a magical atmosphere that leaves tourists mesmerised. The reflections on Lake Pichola’s waters amplify the beauty, creating an awe-inspiring view. Residents also join in by adorning their homes with colourful rangolis, oil lamps, and fairy lights to welcome Lakshmi, the goddess of prosperity. Udaipur’s streets come alive with people dressed in traditional attire, visiting temples, exchanging sweets, and celebrating with family and friends.

This city of lakes is a mesmerising destination year-round, but during Diwali, it’s a feast for the eyes. If you’re fortunate enough to visit Udaipur during this time, you’ll witness the city at its absolute finest.
