This gesture of Rahul Gandhi at Delhi University wins hearts: Watch video

New Delhi: On Thursday, in a simple but symbolic gesture, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi poured water from a matka that was placed outside the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) office and drank it. The simple yet profound act, resonated with students and the huge crowd that had gathered, drawing attention to issues of student welfare and infrastructure within the university campus.

Rahul Gandhi’s visit to the DUSU office comes amid his ongoing interaction with youth and students across the country, and allowing the students to voice their concerns. In the video, DUSU President Ronak Khatri, who was accompanying Gandhi, was heard updating the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha about the initiative he has taken for the students’ welfare. Khatri said he has place matkas at several places at multiple locations across the university campuses as the national capital continues to reel under scorching weather.

This incident sparked discussions on social media and highlighted the power of such symbolic acts in politics.
