Arvind Kejriwal blames Amit Shah for attack on his vehicle in Delhi’s Hari Nagar

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday criticized Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) model of governance, contrasting it with the welfare model of his party. In his statement, Kejriwal said, “On one hand, there is the BJP model where your money is given as a loan to billionaire friends and it is waived off after 2-3 years. The other is the Aam Aadmi Party model, which includes 24-hour electricity, free electricity to the poor, 24-hour free water, and the best and good treatment.”

He added, “This is the Aam Aadmi Party’s welfare model. The Bharatiya Janata Party has made it clear in different ways, through the words of different leaders, that if their government is formed, if you press the lotus button, all these facilities being provided in Delhi will be stopped because this is against their model.”

Kejriwal’s comments come as Delhi assembly elections approach. The polling for 70 assembly seats in Delhi will be held on February 5, with vote counting scheduled for February 8. Kejriwal has been actively campaigning, highlighting the welfare programs under AAP governance that provide free electricity and water, and other benefits aimed at improving the lives of the common people.

Additionally, Kejriwal raised concerns over the deployment of eight companies of State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) from Gujarat for the upcoming Delhi assembly elections. These SRPF companies arrived in Delhi on January 13, as per an order from the Election Commission (EC). Tejas Patel, the Commandant of the SRPF Bhachau, confirmed the deployment on Saturday.

What Kejriwal said

In a post on X, Kejriwal shared a circular issued by the office of the additional director general of police (DGP) in Gujarat, which detailed the deployment of the SRPF for the elections. Kejriwal questioned the decision, asking, “Read this order of Gujarat Police. Election Commission has removed Punjab Police from Delhi and deployed Gujarat Police. What is going on?” His comments came after the Punjab Police personnel deployed for his personal security were withdrawn, a decision he termed as “pure politics.”

The withdrawal of Punjab Police security for Kejriwal was explained by the director general of police (DGP) of Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, who said that the security was removed following instructions from Delhi Police and Election Commission.
