New Delhi: In a shocking incident that has come to light from Thane, a teenage girl died by consuming poison. She took the extreme step allegedly after she was reprimanded by her mother for spending time on her mobile phone excessively.

The 15-year-old girl, who was a resident of Ambernath area, consumed rat poison on September 26, apparently in a fit of rage. She was taken to a nearby hospital and later shifted to a hospital in Mumbai as her condition deteriorated. However, she breathed her last on October 2 during treatment. The police have lodged a case of accidental death on the basis of medical report.

The death of the Thane girl comes following a similar incident reported in Karnataka’s Hubballi recently. In this tragic incident, a teenager allegedly took his own life after his parents asked him to reduce spending time on his mobile phone. According to the police, the 13-year-old boy hanged himself at his residence in Navanagar when his parents had gone for work.
